Adam Massman Obituary, ALMA CENTER, Wis. — Adam Massman, a 17-year-old student-athlete from Alma Center, Wisconsin, has passed away after suffering a severe injury during a high school football game on Thursday, August 20. Massman was preparing to begin his senior year at Lincoln High School and was remembered by his school, teammates, friends and the wider neighborhood as an accomplished athlete, devoted livestock showman and an exceptional young man.
According to information shared by neighborhood individuals, Massman suffered the injury during the third quarter of Lincoln High School’s game against Turtle Lake. He was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to a nearby hospital, where he remained in critical condition. The exact nature of the injury has not been publicly disclosed.
The school community was notified of Massman’s death on Saturday, August 22. In the aftermath, Lincoln High School opened its doors and provided grief counseling as students, teammates, staff and members of the community gathered to process the loss.

Black River Falls FFA remembered him as a friend whose love for agriculture, particularly beef cattle, was evident in all he did. Friends and fellow athletes also remembered him through football, basketball, 4-H activities, county fair events and other shared experiences.
Following news of his death, Massman’s teammates gathered at the school and painted “LLA,” meaning “Long Live Adam,” over his parking spot. The phrase has since been shared throughout the community as people honor his memory.
